MERLE NORMAN COSMETICS I Creative Director

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

NOVEMBER 2016 - PRESENT

Responsible for concept and design of ecommerce, sales collateral, packaging, point of sale graphics, in-store signage, eblasts, and social media content for a cosmetics and skincare company with over 1000 franchises worldwide. Research current trends and prepare mood boards for seasonal color collections and skin care product launches. Direct photoshoots including sourcing models and photographers, scheduling and art directing. Style backdrops, props and wardrobe. Storyboard shoots. Lead brand refresh and brand style guide. Lead and mentor a team of 10+ freelance, on-site creatives and vendors that include in-house and freelance designers, photographers, videographers to produce high quality work on time that also meets the needs of franchises and ecommerce based on key data points (franchise surveys, ecommerce metrics etc). Facilitate collaboration between marketing, ecommerce, social media and creative teams to inspire business savvy creative.


HIGHLIGHTS

  • increased output of content and elevated look of photoshoots while decreasing budget.
  • Create processes and procedures for asset and project management. 
  • Helped launch ecommerce website in October 2019. 
  • Story board and art direct sizzle reel videos. (Soft Touch Eye Shadow, Shadow Stick, Plush Lip Gloss and Red Correct Treatment Primer) for a more elevated brand experience online and in studios.

Consultant responsible for concept, copy, design and production of packaging, point of purchase, advertising, sales collateral, social and digital media for a variety of clients sold in retailers including Target, Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, Walmart, JC Penney, and Brookstone. Duties also include preparing presentations, mood boards, mock ups and renderings to retailers.

  • Concepted and helped launch Sultra hair tools and wet goods into Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom and other major retailers.
  • Concepted and created Caj Beauty brand logo and packaging which launched on QVC and sold out in the first airing. 

PAMPER & PLAY I Creator, Creative Director

Created a start-up brick and mortar business geared to pampering parents and entertaining children ages 8 months to 8 years. Pamper & Play is an innovative twist on traditional indoor play areas. It allows parents to work and relax onsite while their child plays under the supervision of play supervisors.


HIGHLIGHTS

  • Built 12 year-old business from ground up with an initial $10,000 dollar loan to current business which grosses over $120K per year. 
  • Winner of multiple awards by parenting websites including Red Tricycle & LA Parent.

AWARE PRODUCTS I Creative Director

Responsible for concept and design of print, silk screened packaging, labels, sales collateral, tradeshow graphics, website design for a private labeler and manufacturer of hair and skin care products. Create presentation materials and sales collateral for a variety of contract manufacturing clients including L’Oreal, Honest Company, Ulta Beauty, Victoria’s Secret, Bath and Bodyworks, Kevin Murphy, Sexy Hair Concepts and more.

  • Managed a team of 4 - 6 designers 
  • Team designed and produced over 200 silkscreen projects per month.  
  • Reorganized processes and systems and implemented templating to improve team accuracy and efficiency.

Responsible for concept, copy, design and execution of packaging, advertising and sales collateral for a worldwide manufacturer of beauty products that retail in large outlets including Sephora, Target, Cosmoprof and Sally Beauty. Managed team of 4 designers and production artists.  Increased revenue and visibility of brands while streamlining department efficiency.

  • Rebranded Orly componentry and logo.
